 Men are very predictable. They lean towards somebody they want to be with and they lean away from somebody who is shoved in their face.
Desperate authorities are also very predictable. When they are in trouble, they try to shift the focus away from their apparent ignorance and towards Scott Peterson. When the police were widely criticized for ignoring reported sightings of Laci Peterson, they used the media to make reports of cement powder in Scott Peterson's boat the focus of attention. Whenever they are in trouble, the authorities never fail to use the media, to re-focus attention.
The authorities are in trouble again.
It has now been determined that Stanislaus County Superior Court judges acted improperly when, at the request of law enforcement, they sealed search warrants in two Modesto investigations. The authorities are in trouble again and they are clearly demonstrating their formidable capacity to manipulate the media.
The authorities are evidently so frustrated that they have released what is being called the "smoking gun photograph" to prove that Scott Peterson murdered Laci. It takes incredible power and influence to turn the so called mainstream media into the National Enquirer, and that is what the authorities have done now that they have somehow managed to get ABC7 to publish the photograph that is routinely used to isolate Scott Peterson.
According to Amber's dad, Ron Frey, the National Enquirer had offered him over one hundred thousand dollars to publish the smoking gun photograph. What did ABC7 have to do, for the opportunity to publish the photograph that all the money in the world could not buy? I guess that's very predictable at this point. All it takes is to tell the authorities that they are acting improperly and unlawfully when they seal Peterson investigation warrants and they will do whatever it takes, to create the impression that Scott Peterson murdered his wife.
ABC7 made the link between illegal search warrants and the release of smoking gun evidence quite obvious, through the following, duelling by-lines:

Apr. 8 -A Modesto judge may unseal some key documents in the Laci Peterson disappearance case. In the meantime, ABC7 has obtained the photo that turned the case on its head when it was first shown to Laci's family.
The authorities are acting like the so called smoking gun photograph proves that Scott Peterson murdered Laci and that they are entitled to break any law in the process of making a case against Scott. That certainly explains their tactics, but it does not prove that Scott Peterson murdered Laci.
Fortunately or not, depending on who you are, the capacity to promote tabloid trash does not determine the guilt or the innocence of Scott peterson.
Nonetheless, now that the desperate authorities have exposed their smoking gun, they have inadvertently proved that they do not have a single shred of reliable evidence to indicate that Scott Peterson murdered his wife Laci. Actions speak louder than words, and the fact that Scott Peterson has not been arrested, proves everything. Clearly, anybody who can survive the heat that Scott Peterson has endured, is not guilty.
Scott Peterson did not murder Laci, there is no evidence which even remotely suggests that he is capable, willing or even able to get away with such a horrendous crime, and at this point, it is easier to believe in aliens than so suggest that Scott Peterson murdered his wife.
Ironically, the obsession to ease the pressure of allegations that secretive authorities have violated the law caused them to release what they call smoking gun evidence. Mark Vasché, the Modesto Bee's executive editor, expressed the evident tendency to ignore the law in the Peterson case when he said; "The court has sent a clear message that proper procedures -- and the law -- must be followed before the public can be denied access to public documents." If the authorities think they can manipulate public opinion by releasing what they call the smoking gun, they have wasted their bluff. They should have saved it for the court room. Isn't that why they are breaking the law -to keep their tactics a secret?
That childish, smoking gun photograph of Scott Peterson and Amber Frey standing in front of a Christmas tree, is the sort of annual snapshot that is produced for, and not by the subjects in the photograph. It is, without question, the most staged and most scripted photagraph imagineable because it has absolutely nothing to do with the substance of the personal relationship of the people involved. It has more to do with Christmas and with the fanatics who force their children to drop whatever it is they are doing at the time, for the sake producing the sense of peace that is a figment of a frustrated parent's imagination.
This photograph is not entirely insignificant. Indeed, the way it is being used may very well lead to the people who are desperately trying to cover up the truth about the disappearance of Laci Peterson.
People magazine has published mystifying pictures of Amber and Scott. On first glance, they look like cardboard cutouts that provided Scott Peterson the opportunity to stick his head through a scenario where it did not belong. I am not trying to suggest they are fake, that may very well be the intended solicitation, but when I first spotted them it was surrealistic because Ron Frey had said that he had a picture of Scott in a tuxedo and Scott does in fact look like he is wearing a rented tux on the bottom half of the picture that highlights Amber Frey's red dress but the top half of Scott's suit betrays a regular shirt and tie. Too strange to find the words to describe... bizarre revision or metamorphosis.
Regardless, assuming these pictures are authentic and taking them at face value, they show a very immature Scott Peterson and I don't know what they show about Amber Frey. Clearly, the only way to make head or tail out of these pictures it to sit down with Scott and Amber, without the glare of an orchestrated press conference, and to find out what this is all about.
In the meantime, these pictures are relatively meaningless because their context is too bizarre to develop any reliable facts without the opportunity to engage a serious probe. What we do know, with absolute certainty is that Amber's sister, Ava, has demonized Scott Peterson the way Kathleen Willey demonized President Bill Clinton. Ava frey has in fact said that she actually feared for Amber's life and this bizarre allegation is too preposterous to take seriously. In Willey's case, even her cat was not safe, as long as the demon, Bill Clinton, was a free man.
The truth is not exactly the script that the Freys aggressively promote. At worst, Scott Peterson was gullible, unfaithful and immature. Scott Peterson is not Lizzy Borden or Nancy Grace and he is clearly more than intelligent enough to understand the fact that Laci Peterson was absolutely irreplaceable.
The only authentic pictures that People magazine published, that do not leave anything to the imagination, are on the cover and they are about the timeless love story between Scott and Laci. The picture on the right is a picture of Laci Peterson's incredible smile and the one on the left is a picture of the agony and the unprecedented, pain and grief, that is deeply etched, on Scott Peterson's face. Ava Frey, no doubt, has an entirely different interpretation.
